HTaE Author's Note

Don't read this unless you've finished "Here, There, and Everywhere."

First of all, I hoped you enjoyed the story. I enjoyed writing it, I enjoyed sharing it, I just hope you all enjoyed the trip. :) Second, THANK YOU ALL FOR FOLLOWING THIS STORY/SERIES. THANK YOU FOR THE REVIEWS. THANK YOU FOR THE FEEDBACK. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU! There are so many of you I've met through this thing, and so many great conversations I've had because of it. I appreciate it all. I really do. :)

*ahem*

Now, this thing has been quite the staple in my life for almost two years, and while I'm sad to see it go for MANY reasons, I'm also happy to have it done. It was quite the project, and it's always nice to finish something that you've put so much work into. I honestly feel as though I've learned so much...much more than I thought writing fanfiction could. Weirdly enough, people always rag on fanfic for being crap, but I think it's made me better. It's given me the confidence to try some original stuff, and that's payoff enough for me. :)

Now, onto questions. I guess we should start with the inevitable...

THAT ENDING!? HOW COULD YOU!? WHAT HAPPENED?! DID THEY? DIDN’T THEY!? EVIL!

I know some people thought that (and perhaps in bold capslock too). However, whether they did or not isn’t really important, as much as you know they're doing it one way or another. They've come this far! From the little kids I borrowed from JKR and started them as, to the point I left them at. That was their journey as I saw fit to tell it.

A part of me wants to leave it entirely up to the reader and how they view Ted and Victoire to determine whether they did or did not run out that very minute, but I have a feeling I’ll answer the "did they/didn't they" question in an upcoming story one of these days…In fact, if one of the stories I want to write makes it to fruition, then I know I’ll answer it. In the meantime though (or on the off chance I never get around to writing that story!) I’m leaving it completely up to the reader. You tell me. :)

BUT A TED/VICTOIRE WEDDING! WANT! You said no more, so, um, we don’t get to see it…? EVIL!

This is the end of my Ted/Victoire series, that is true, but it’s not the end of Ted/Victoire. I’ve put too much into them to abandon them forever; never to be heard from again.

But I do need a break where they’re not the focus; a period where they’re off living their lives while everyone else gets to be fleshed out. Will they be around in the future? Absolutely. As of now, every story I plan to write takes place in the same post-DH world. If you haven’t noticed, they all thread together in some way. That will never not be common place unless I decide to purposely do something outside of this box I’ve created. Not that I see that happening, but I'll never say never. I've learned that...

Truth be told, I really can’t see myself writing a future story without Ted and Victoire making some appearance in some way. That’s a fact. You’re not getting rid of Ted or Victoire.

Well, wtf? Do any of these appearances entail a wedding?!?

All I’m saying is weddings make great backdrops for stories. But as you’ve seen from two of my stories now, I tend to prefer the other characters attending the wedding rather than the bride and groom.

So, we’ll get to see what happens? Just in another character’s story…?

Don’t make me spell this out.

And which character’s story is that exactly?

That is the question, isn't it?

As of now, I have a plans for three to four new stories. I say three to four because I may combine two into one story, but unless I can work out a manageable flow between the two POVs, I’ll just make them two separate stories.

Will they be as long as the stories I’ve already written? I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally want to say no, but I have no idea. Stories tend to grow on me before I know what happens. This sequel wasn’t supposed to exist originally, and when it did, it wasn’t supposed to be longer than either "AYitL" or "TS". Now, do I see a series birthing out of any of these new stories? No…but again, I never saw one birthing out of “A Year in the Life” either. As of now though, I just see the single stories in the future.

So, here they are chronologically (ala, not necessarily the order I may write them in, but rather how they fit on the time line).

I’ve told many throughout the course of “HTaE” that a Louis/Sarah story piqued my interested. I'm weird in the sense that I actually plan characters' story lines even though I know it won't make it to page, which is what I did with these two (and with most of my characters). In doing that, I found their story very cute. Mostly though, after I wrote the epilogue, I became very intrigued of the story line I gave them in the future. That story is one of the many things in my series that is based on something I've seen or experienced in real life. What Victoire tells you in the epilogue about what happened to Louis, that actually happened to someone I know. It's a story that's somewhat fascinated me; definitely enough to give it to a character and possibly expand upon it.

Then, of course, people found themselves enjoying the Dominique/Henry plot. I can’t blame you because I loved writing them. In planning this, I wanted Dominique to have some sort of outside relationship going on, but who on earth could I pluck out of this crowd of unknown characters to match up to her? Why Roger Davies’s son came to be, I don’t know. I remembered mentioning him in “A Year in the Life” once, because I try to (I really do) put familiar names in there from HP. I think about who would have kids this age now and who wouldn’t, but seeing as we don’t know too much about Bill/Fleur/Tonks generation and the people in it, I usually don’t come up with too much.

I never planned on bringing Davies to life more than that flagrant foul he threw on Jack Ians in “A Year in the Life”. However, when trying to create a character to match Nicki, the parallel was too good to pass on. Her mother, his father…It practically wrote itself. Let it not be said that I don’t try to at least draw from canon before I go and create a completely original OC. :)

Anyway, I think my favorite chapter that I’ve ever written is the one of Nicki and Davies in the library arguing together, and I have no idea why. They’re just fun. They’re so unconventional, but yet, they’re not. So many relationships are JUST like that, but they rarely get their story told. I never planned on expanding on them because I thought they were fun how they were, but…the more I think about it, and the more interest I see people having in them, I think—no, rather, I know—I can make a story out of that. I’m more worried about tackling Dominique’s POV (lol) head on, but we shall see if--and what--I can do with that.

It's this, along with the Louis story, where I feel like I can combine them somehow, but at the same time, I’m struggling with working out a flow to it all. They may end up as two separate shorter stories instead of one larger one. We’ll see.

Now, those were just the stories that were born while “HTaE” was in the works. Before that, I also had plans on writing a story about James Potter and a story about Lily Potter (sorry, Albus, but you'll be in them...!) They would take place after the epilogue occurred, and while I won't get into too much detail, there was a very specific reason I fleshed those two out a little more than other characters. My James story is a chance to get away from writing a guy like Ted (because I see them as very different people, and I'm excited about that), and my Lily story is something along the lines of "A Year in the Life," though also different because I see her and Victoire as also being very different. Not to mention, being the children of Harry Potter is sure to affect their lives in various ways... ;)

Well...that's that! Those are my plans as of now, but I'm completely open to change and new ideas. We'll see. :) I'm not going anywhere, and I'll update this journal still, so feel free to stick around if you'd like. :)

More importantly, when could you expect a new story? Hard to say considering my real life is crazy now (it's probably a good thing this story is ending when it is!) but I'll always find a way. Some time this summer would be great...wouldn't it? ;)

Thanks again :) <3

Wow, I think yoiur ideas sound great. I'd love a Nicki story most simply because she's the character I've enjoyed the most through your stories.

I'd love to read a James Potter II story from you, I love the Marauders and considering he's named after two of them, I can see him being quite a bit like his grandad. :-)

Lily? For some reason, I've never been able to particularly picture her any way, so I'd love to see your take on her.

I'll definitely be hanging around here. Summer eh? sounds great! :)
James was my favorite Marauder, which is funny considering we know SO LITTLE about him. lol. But I've always like him (probably because I love James/Lily). I guess somewhere in there, it's made me feel drawn towards James II. I've been fleshing him out little by little since early on, and I'm hoping to work that into something...fun. ;)

Ok so really looking forward to your new projects now, have to say, for some reason Albus didn't spark as much interest in me when I read about him in the epilogue as James and Lily did, particularly James as everyone seems to be obsessed with writing abbout ALbus. Anywho was just wondering where do you stand on the whole Rose/Scorpious, Lily/Scorpious thing cos personally I'm a R/S shipper myself, for some reason I just see them together and Lily and one of the Scamander twins. Anyway I'll keep checking back to see when you next update a story, I love your universe!

Albus didn't spark as much interest in me when I read about him in the epilogue as James and Lily did, particularly James as everyone seems to be obsessed with writing abbout ALbus.

Me either! JKR said she was very drawn to Albus, and I couldn't help but wonder why. To me, James and Lily seemed more interesting based on what we got from those few pages. Also, as you said, everyone does Albus. Albus, Rose, and Scorpius seem to be the popular group from the next-gen, so they don't interest me as much as the others. I don't know why.

Where do you stand on the whole Rose/Scorpius, Lily/Scorpious thing

People ask me this a lot, which, I'll admit, I'm not really drawn to Scorpius. I've never been a Draco fan, and that's probably why. I'd need to read a really good Scorpius fic to get me to change my mind, because if he's anything like his dad...eh. It would be something I'd need to explore. Though, Rose/Scorpius sounds like it could be something I, potentially, could get behind, but Lily/Scorpius...that doesn't do it for me.

Fabulous job finishing this story! I really love your Ted/Victoire. And all of your other characters for that matter. ;) Ted's proposal was too cute, though I'm so with Ginny and Andromeda, "It's about damn time!" And I had to LOL at T/V's discussion about getting married before they leave and not telling, because I know a couple who did just that. Anyway, I've really enjoyed all your stories, and I know I will enjoy whatever you write next, whether it's something you mentioned here or something different. :)
Thank you!!! :)
I personally would love to see a Louis/Sarah story especially with the twist you gave in the epilogue. I think it would be beter if you could combine Nicki into that- I'm not sure how it'd be to read her pov for long periods of time as an individual story as we've only had short bursts of her through this story.

Also, another character that you've got me interested in is Lily, I always thought she was really intuitive throughout the scenes you had with her and Ted (which were adorable btw) and then seeing her as an older teen made me think that she'd be an interesting character to know more about. I can just imagine the problems she'd face being Harry Potters daughter, I think you would do her justice.

I think I'd prefer a Lily story to James' but I remember that scene on the platform at christmas and can see James having a very interesting Hogwarts journey. Actually now that I think about it James seems very popular and maybe a bit unruly which could make for some really great reading. I actually don't care what you write as long as we get to read it!
I'm not sure how it'd be to read her pov for long periods of time as an individual story as we've only had short bursts of her through this story.

Me either!!! That's what worries me! In small doses, she's great, but a whole story...! Once I start to write it, we'll see how it goes. I'll work something out. :)

And thank you! James's story would be a trip...at least, the way I play it back in my head it would be. He's a funny guy.... :) I'm hoping to do justice to a lot of these characters and make them all unique in their own little ways, but we shall see. Here's hoping... ;)
Wonderful ideas, and I look forward to seeing any and all that come to fruition. The idea that you see James (II) as much like his namesake is awesome because I adore James Potter (the first), but the one I'm more excited about than the others is Louis and Sarah - I think you've set up a lot to work with there. Good luck with the craziness of real-life (it never seems to be anything else, does it?) and with your wedding plans (if I'm remembering correctly). Congratulations in advance!
I adore James Potter (I) too! He gets a bad rap from a lot of people (for being a jerk for 10 minutes when he was 16) but I'm hoping to make his namesake worthy of his own story. ;)

Good luck with the craziness of real-life (it never seems to be anything else, does it?) and with your wedding plans (if I'm remembering correctly). Congratulations in advance!

Thank you!! :)
Wow! What a ride! I've been with you each time from A Year in the Life through all the prequel/sequels and even into LiveJournal (because who doesn't like a bit of smut now and then, hmm?) I've enjoyed every minute and all the updates (especially the speed of the updates!) Thank you so much for the journey!

And speaking of the journey: my heart melted at the wedding, when Teddy talks about the inevitability of them getting married... I remember the moment my husband said that, almost eight years ago now... I'll never forget that night... sigh... anyway, well done!

And congrats to you on the completion! Two years is a long time to work on something and I applaud you. Of course, all authors will agree: you're never really done writing. So it is with you, and I'm looking forward to what you come up with next! I'll be checking!

Congrats and Cheers!
Ozma333
Oh wait... And ESPECIALLY NIcki's story! I can't get enough of that bitch! Love to see anything you have on that, though I can see how getting in her head would be troublesome.... but think of the adventure! And all the cursing and dirty thoughts you'd get to peruse!!!

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Your characters reach beyond the grasp of JKR's books. JKR gave us - one page - worth of T/V. Look what you made. She didn't even mention Louis and Dominique in the series. Look what you made. You practically own these characters. You're the only person that has gone and, instead of giving his readers a side of the story to read about - a person's POV at a certain event - has given your readers - us - a story itself. It's a huge world and you claim full credit in it, and frankly, I can see HTaE reaching into an actual book. The way you have fleshed your characters out and given them life is something many of these actual writers who write real books out there would be jealous of. Just know that if you decide to make a story an actual book and let it be published, you'll have to tell me its name so I'll just rush and buy it. :D
Oh, btw. Gief more Hazel/Nate. Nao. ;)
Thank you so much :)

I never intended to make a world, but now that I have, I'm actually rather excited for the possibilities. It's nice to know it's not quite over yet, which I think is what made finishing this story easier. :)

And writing my own book is a goal one day! Here's hoping!
Wonderful ending. It actually makes me sad that I don't have these updates to look forward to. And I can't wait for the upcoming projects, but I must say that I'm really on the look out for the Dominique/Henry. I just love her she's just so wonderfully bitchy(a lot like me I suspect LOL). Looking forward to whatever comes next!
Thanks!! And that's the best way to sum Dominique up, imo! "Wonderfully bitchy." lol

You know...I might save that for a title, haha.
One word: YAY!!
The possibility of a James Potter story (YAY :)), a Lily Potter story (double YAY!!:))), A Dominique and Louis story.......you've made my day right there!! And with your amazing last chapters... Can I just say I love you?
Your epilogue was the best, I loved the ending what with them actually considering marrying each other before going to Australia. And as you so rightly wrote, it doesn't really matter if they did or not get married: they love each other so much already, it's enough for me.
I loved all your characters throughout this story and the others: I loved the fact that you put Lily in the epilogue, I really would like to see her character being the center of a story, so when you write yours, you will definitely count me as one of your readers. Reading it some time this summer would be perfect by the way :)). Or your James story, I really am looking forward to read a good story about him without to many clichés. Sure he seems a little more on the teasing side and goofing around compared to Al, but I think there would be more to him than that.
Thank you sooo much for bringing this whole universe to life. Fanfiction can be considered crap but you just have to be picky and find some really amazing stories like yours!
Thank you!! I'm glad so many people seemed satisfied with the ending. I really assumed I'd have more "OMG HOW CAN YOU LEAVE IT THERE!" but I haven't had one review like that (yet). :) It's nice to see that people seem to get "it" like I intended it to.

On to future projects!! I really told myself I need to take a break, but my creative juice are already flowing and telling me to sit down and get to work! lol.
Hurry up summer and get here!!! I can't wait to read your next work. Nikki and Davies will no doubt be fantastic as will Louis and Sarah. Very exciting stuff and I am really looking forward to reading more.....
Thanks!!

Thanks!!

I'm surprised James and Lily have stuck out to me, considering I love Ron and would assume I'd go in the direction of his kids, but the more I wrote about Teddy, the more I fleshed Harry's kids out, and now I've got all these ideas for them. We'll see where they take me!

I love the Louis/Sarah + Nicki/Davies idea... but I love the Potter children idea as well! AHH
Haha I'm sure anything you decide on will be great, and I look forward to reading more. Loved this series.
Thanks! :)
let me just say thankyou. That was a great ending to a great series. well done! as to your ideas for more, i love the idea of a lily fic. also, as far as nicki/davies is concerned i can understand what you mean about too much nicki... have you thought of maybe doing it from davies' pov? i always thought he was interesting; he'd have to be to end up in a relationship with nicki! exploring nicki from his pov could allow for a bit more of a 'smaller dosage' than being in her head all the time. anyway, just a thought. i'm sure whatever you come out with next will be great. i can't wait.
Thanks :)

I'm going to give Nicki's POV a shot. If I can keep her under control (lol) it should be doable, but she's quite unpredictable. It might be a good idea to combine the story with her brother to offer the break, but we'll see...
I may be a freak, but I would love to read an entire story from Nicki's pov. Henry seems pretty interesting too, so I agree with what the poster above said. I would love to read from Henry's pov too.
haha, that doesn't make you a freak! A masochist, perhaps...jk!

Nicki will be the challenge, but after this series, I'm ready for it!

Thank you! It's flattering that people seem to find my Ted and Victoire "it". Flattering and overwhelming! I was just hoping to do them justice... :)

And I was just planning out Sarah and Louis's story before I sat down to answer some comments...Look at me, I'm supposed to be taking a break from writing! BAH!
Well, I'll just combine my review on the last chapters with the review on this note, because I'm lazy that way. I liked the ending, actually, and how you didn't close everything up. At first, when you said Louis was down because a girl had died, I was pretty mad at you for killing off Sarah, until you said it was some random girl called Juliette. I was also a bit surprised that you didn't mention Henry even the slightest bit, but ah well. I actually had a small inkling of Durrin/Whit, but you never had them meet before the Epilogue, so I disregarded it. I actually first thoguht of it after her and Jack broke up. I was thinking who would be good for her. I remember her saying in AYitL that she liked older boys. I also tried to think of someone sort of like Jack, and the only person I ame up with who fit both criteria was Durrin.

Just to confirm, would these Louis/Sarah and Dominique/Henry stories be starting from their last years at Hogwarts, or from the epilogue?

I'd love reading a James Potter II story, because I like what little of his character you and Rowling showed. It's funny imagining what OC to go with him though. Neville's made up kids, or someone totally original? Lily story... I'm not really with or against this one.

I would prefer Louis/Sarah, James, Lily, Dominique/Henry in that order, but if you write Louis, you'll probably want to write Dominique right after, then James, and then Lily, so it all follows a timeline, and it isn't all over the place.

Your choice, of course. I'll read and review no matter which ones you go with, and in which order.
Thank you!

Everyone seems to think I killed Sarah! haha. :) I wouldn't do that to Sarah! I've got a whole new story I need her to be in! :)

And Durrin/Whit didn't come to me until later in the story, funnily enough. I had the epilogue planned out almost exactly as it's written (as in, their all friends hanging out) and I got to thinking, "You know, those two could be good for each other...I wonder..." But in the end I left it open ended so I can take it or leave it in the future. We'll see where that goes (where everything goes!)

Thanks again! :)

Thanks!

Yeah, I have a Lily story planned. It's actually the story I'm most ready to write because it's the most complete one I have planned out (I'm still bouncing ideas off of the other three, whereas the Lily one already has a beginning middle and an end). Though, I think I'll tackle Victoire's siblings first.

I'm hoping for something new this summer. Here's hoping! :)
I think that a Louis/Sarah story would be awesome. I love the character that you've created for Louis & Sarah was wonderful too.
A Lily or James story would also be great, especially a Lily story (my fondness for red-headed little girls named Lily is rather obvious!)
But I still want to see colorful veela puppies!
Enjoy your break, but I can't wait till your back!

I'm so excited to read these! I would love to read a Lily story, but would you have her end up with Scorpius? I've read some of those and I think you could do a really good job...? Also, a Louise and Sarah or Dominique and Henry would be great. I especially think the D/H would be hysterical. I love your Dominique! Or James. Ahh James. In every generation he's the best. It would be a big change from writing about Teddy, but I good change I think. I can't wait for another story.
Good luck,
-GG
I`m so sorry for being so late to tell you how great your whole story`s are. I wasn`t at home the last week and it was torture to wait until i was able to read the last (sigh) three chapters. You really did have created a complex, lively, wonderful, universe here. I LOVE IT !!!! So sweet and tender and exciting and authentic. Please never stop writing!!! I always will read your story no matter with whom you decide to begin your next one. And i`m so grateful Sarah is all right! And imaging Louis so miserable was heartbreaking. I would love to see him happy again. Lily would also be fantastic, and James is always my favorite too, so whatever works for you, i will be there to read!!! THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU! This is fantastic. Passionately waiting for news and story`s :)

Thanks for this fantasic story :)
i read these last chapters as soon as you posted but couldn't manage to comment. sorry. it was so bitter sweet for me. i LOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVEEEEDDDDDD this whole ride of vic/ted so much, but was so sad to see it end. i needed a moment away. now this may sound strange to you....but honestly, it is a big compliment from me. when i read a really good book...i go through a tad bit of withdrawal/sadness/emptiness when it is over. weird i know. but anywho....just brilliant in all ways possible. enjoy your "break" from writing...but not too long because that would truly be a shame.
"thank you" just doesn't seem like the words big enough to express my deep appreciation for being allowed to read your wonderful stories. "thank you" for pouring your time, energy, heart, and soul and then most importantly....SHARING it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just wanted to say that I never paid much attention to the T/V ship until I came across one of your stories (This Time Around) which lead me to read the others and get really invested in T/V. I am a huge fan of the original trio of course which is why I searched them and read This Time Around. Your writing is so wonderful and I really enjoyed the journey. (Had to read them all and became quite obsessed let me tell you.) I also was very intrigued with where you were going with Louis and Sarah. I like Dominique but due to her personality, would prefer to see you write about the twins together rather than Dominique on her own OR just Louis/Sarah. Dominique is great as a supporting character but her relationship with Roger or her life for that matter is not one I would be interested in reading about front and center.
Thank you so much :)

And I definitely agree with you about Dominique being too much for her own story. Small doses is what makes her great. I really want her and Louis's story to be combined, I just have to work out the logistics of it.

But I've got Louis's story almost entirely mapped out. Now I just need to sit down and write it. :)

Thanks again!
Can't believe I didn't say thank you in all that. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Hope to hear from you again real soon. :) After a much needed break of course.
Well, I have just read the entire series for the second time now, and I must say that you did a great job. I especially love how realistic the characters are and how you give each of them unique personalities. I feel like they all remind me of different people that I know from various places in my life.

I am really excited about the next stories you plan to write as there are very few good next gen stories out there in my oppinion. You said you had most of it outlined so I am curious what time period you will place the Louis/Nicki story in. Between the last chapter and epilogue of this story or after the epilogue? Also, how much in the future is James' story (I think he is going to be fun!) Any other tidbits you can throw our way? Hope the writing is going well, and I am excited to read more of your work!

Laura
Hey, Laura!! Sorry it took me so long to respond (I'm in the process of moving!) Lot's of fun...

Anyway! The time periods of the stories are varied. The Nicki/Henry-Louis/Sarah one would all be together (I'm confident now that I'll combine the two). It would take place in and around the time period of "Here, There, and Everywhere" and then transition itself into to the future (where the epilogue took place). I figured the best way to combine Louis and Nicki's stories were to do them in chunks. Like, the first part would be Louis's, then pick up in Nicki's, then back to Louis, then back to Nicki...I wouldn't be alternating POV's between chapters (like I did in "HTaE") but I'd be alternating them between the stories. I figured since lives coincide so often--but not enough--the flow would work itself out. :)

James's story takes place right after the epilogue of HTaE. I've got that story completely mapped out now and I'm so excited to write it! James is like no character I've done yet and I can't wait to explore him :)

And then there's Lily's story (which I'm also really excited about because it gives me that sweet feeling that writing "AYitL" did) which will take place a year or two after James's story concludes.

So, now I just have to decide which story I want to do first (it won't be Lily's because I'd like her to follow James). :) Decisions, decisions!
